Backstage Work

Val graduated with a BA in Music Stage Management Studies. She loves working for Utah Symphony | Utah Opera in their ticketing services & for their onstage productions, & with the Local IATSE 99 as a stagehand.

She takes & give direction well, can give clear direction, is a strong team player, & works well under pressure. Being a musician & dancer provides an edge with great timing for calling shows & spotlight work. She is strong for stagehand work, & an excellent team player.

Val began her journey along her dad in construction. She honed her skills on construction sites. She hungers for knowledge & is always eager to learn how something works.

From her father, she learned how to read plans, construct things, & later moved on honing further skills such as sewing & electrics. She's learned there is opportunity for creativity everywhere.

Onstage Work

My Singing

Val trained classically as a soprano, but has expanded her range to even some tenor lines. She enjoys the alto line & loves the sound it fills out into. She's driven by storytelling, but still believes in clear diction. Her vocal style is particularly suited for Handel & her vocal humor lives for Gilbert & Sullivan.

Val trained classically & in musical theatre, but is familiar with folk & jazz singing.

They have sung at casinos across Nevada, The Magic Castle in Hollywood, in Notre Dame & across France, & at prestigious Carnegie Hall.

Val's Acting

Val thrives within Shakespearean text, but leans into whatever is given & drives to create a connection to their partners onstage. She loves making fun, organic, & real moments, strives to find the humor within any line possible, & experimenting to find what works best. She welcomes all input and ideas to try out. She's never done growing as an actor & strives to learn with every rehearsal or script read-through.

Val continued training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, pole & silks, musical theatre, tap, ballroom, & assorted styles. She loves the history of dance, drawing inspirations from Martha Graham & Twyla Tharp.
